Katy Perry to Kick Off 'California Dreams' U.S. Tour

During a live chat on Facebook Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 19) Katy Perry announced the North American dates for her California Dreams  2011 world tour . The super pop star will bring her "Teenage Dream" and "One of the Boys" hits to the U.S. and Canada for 38 dates, beginning June 7 in Atlanta.

Robyn who is Swedish pop singer and Welsh singer-songwriter Marina and the Diamonds will open for Perry during the North American leg. Pre-sale tickets for the tour dates will be available this Friday (Jan. 21), while general on-sale tickets will be released a week later.



Just announcing the tour,  Katy Perry  answered general questions from Facebook users about her high heels, her upcoming tour attire (including a possibly edible cotton-candy outfit) and her secret love for singer/songwriter Michael McDonald. Katy Perry  also declared a partnership with the social networking site's Facebook Places/Deals program, which will let fans check into the concert venues in each tour stop to earn prizes.

One week before kicking off Katy Perry  world tour in Lisbon, Portugal on Feb. 20, Perry will perform at the 2011 Grammy Awards, where her sophomore disc "Teenage Dream" will vie for album of the year. The album's fourth single, "E.T.," is expected to hit radio next month, after its first three singles -- "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream" and "Firework" -- all hit No. 1 on the Hot 100.

Randi Zuckerberg, who is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's sister, interviewed the pop singer and self-proclaimed "Child of the Internet."

On June 7The 41-city tour will kick off in Atlanta and run through 14, August with two hometown shows in Katy's hometown of Santa Barbara, Calif.

If someone can wait for that, Katy will kick off the California Dreams tour on February 20 in Lisbon, Portugal, traveling throughout Europe, the UK, Australia and Japan before hitting stateside in June.

Katy Perry will also perform at the Grammy's in Los Angeles on Feb. 13. She is up for four awards.

British actress Susannah York has died of cancer in  at the age of 72 in London . Her death was announced by her son, the actor Orlando Wells. Wells said Sunday his mother had been an incredibly brave woman who did not complain about her bone marrow cancer.


Susannah York had a string of leading roles in the late 1960s and was best known for her Oscar-nominated role in the 1969 hit "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" She also starred with Albert Finney in "Tom Jones" and with Paul Scofield and Orson Welles in "A Man for All Seasons."
She vigorously worked for the release of Israeli whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu who disclosed secrets that revealed the Jewish state was building atomic bombs and was in Israel when he was finally set free in 2004 after 18 years in jail.
"I remember back in 1961 when I was a young journalist, I interviewed her for a magazine for her film Greengage Summer, and I still remember how completely charmed I was," playwright Tom Stoppard told the Telegraph.

York went on to a variety of TV and stage roles.

In 1972 Susannah York won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival. Susannah Yorks film work tailed off as London's "Swinging Sixties" era faded into cultural history, but Susannah Yorkdid play Superman's mother in several of the films.
